iPod Touch Survives 100,000 Foot Drop

Recently G-Form, the makers of the Extreme iPhone cases, created a publicity stunt by dropping an iPod Touch with their signature protective case from far above Earth. Appropriately, they chose the Nevada Desert, near Area 51, for their research.

The G-Form team attached a weather balloon to the iPod and case and sent it up 100,000 feet into the atmosphere. Miraculously, the iPod didn’t sustain any major or minor damages. Once the team recovered the media player from it’s outer space decent, they turned it on and it started up immediately.

Although this was intended as a promotion for the company’s Extreme iPhone case, their experiment proved that the iPod Touch is an exceptionally durable product. Sure, the cord and attachments probably slowed the iPod’s descent considerably, but the results are still impressive.

Take a look at the amazing footage filmed from the sky-cam attached to the weather balloon. The panoramic view of Earth, if nothing else, is a great reason to watch this video.

Deep Discount Hunting

5th-generation-ipod-touchMany of us highly anticipate the pre-holiday shopping season, but without a little preparation those great discounts will quickly slip by. Watch any YouTube holiday shopping video and you’ll see that it’s a highly competitive, if not ruthless, shopping season.

Just a quick side note, if you have an older model iPod Touch that you are looking to upgrade, Amazon.com has a great trade-in program. This also applies to other electronic items that you would like to sell or upgrade. Check to see the value of your trade-in here:

Now for those of you interested in getting right to the point, here are the top stores which typically provide great discounts on the iPod.

Five Stores Providing Consistently Great Holiday Savings
Amazon.com iPod Touch Specials
Walmart iPod Touch
Target iPod Touch
BestBuy iPod Touch

Keep checking these links prior to Black Friday and the official shopping day itself. You can also check these stores for early iTouch sales. Last year, for example, Target was selling an iPod iTouch for the regular price of $195, but they were including a $40 gift card. Although an undiscounted price doesn’t necessarily follow the spirit of Black Friday, it was a decent offer nonetheless.

Both Target and Amazon offer pre Black Friday sales. And although they have some deeply discounted products, the iTouch is not one of them. To get the best prices, wait for the official shopping day.

Should I Shop Online or at the Physical Department Store?

If you’re planning on doing bulk shopping for the holidays an early trip to the favorite store might be in order. But for those of you holding out for a great discount on one particular item like the iPod Touch, you don’t need to stray any further than from the comfort of your computer.
Whatever you do, at least use a smart phone app to check on competitive prices this holiday. Good luck and happy shopping!
