Recently G-Form, the makers of the Extreme iPhone cases, created a publicity stunt by dropping an iPod Touch with their signature protective case from far above earth. They appropriately chose the Nevada Desert, near Area 51, for their research.
The G-Form team attached a weather balloon to the iPod and case and sent it up 100,000 feet into the atmosphere. Miraculously, the iPod didn’t sustain any major or minor damages. Once the team recovered the media player from it’s outer space decent, they turned it on and it started up immediately.
Although this was intended as a promotion for the company’s Extreme iPhone case, their experiment proved that the iPod Touch is an exceptionally durable product. Sure, the cord and attachments probably slowed the iPod’s descent considerably, but the results are still impressive.
Take a look at the amazing footage filmed from the sky-cam attached to the weather balloon. The panoramic view of Earth, if nothing else, is a great reason to watch this video.
